An individual called the Prosecutor General’s Office in the afternoon of February 21 and said that the entrance to the building was mined. The bomb scare turned out to be a hoax.

The PGO’s representative Maria Vieru has told IPN that as a result of operational measures, it was established that it was a hoax call made from a penitentiary.

The Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office started a criminal case over intentional misleading about an explosion or other actions that endanger people’s lives. The offense carries a penalty of up to two years in jail, 180 to 240 hours of community service or a fine of 10,000 to 25,000 lei.
