Military combat engineers neutralized a plane bomb of 500 kg in Sculeni village of Ungheni district. The bomb was found during digging works on a building site. It is Soviet made and dates from World War II. The bomb disposal squad destroyed the bomb in a sand quarry that is situated 5 km of the village, IPN reports.
According to Major Nicolae Teleghin, specialist in the National Army Bomb Squad, the combat engineers in September annihilated 13 explosive devices, including five bombs, artillery shells of different calibers and hand grenades F-1 and RGD.
This year, the Bomb Squad of the National Army performed 128 demining operations and liquidated 1,281 explosive devices in different settlements of the country.
