Bolboceanu: Communist government provoked April 7 events

“On April 7, 2009, the Communist government did not want to take steps to calm things down as they themselves provoked the mass disorder and the devastation of the Parliament's building and the Presidential Office,” politician Iurie Bolboceanu, former chairman of the National Council of the Social Democratic Party, said after he was questioned as a witness in the April 7, 2009 case by prosecutors on February 8, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Bolboceanu, the April 7 events constituted not an attempted coup, but a provocation by which the Communist government wanted to discredit the Opposition. “Regretfully, the Democratic Opposition became a victim of those provocations,” he said. Bolboceanu considers that the hearings held by the prosecutors will produce no results as the cases are examined by the same persons as before and after July 29. “I don't think the truth will ever come out and the people will know what really happened on April 7,” he said.
