The police identified a criminal group whose members posed as representatives of a political party and stole money and property from people. The members of the group aged 26 and 35 are natives of Chisinau and Balti. The police arrested a suspect, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the group had worked during the last two moths. Their victims included elderly persons and persons with disabilities, especially from villages. Going to the victims, the suspects told them that Moldova received a European grant and they, as members of a party, distributed carpets to people in aid, at the instruction of their leader. The victims received by a carpet and then were offered to buy another one at half price. When they entered the house to bring the money, one of the suspects went with them. When the victims went out to take the carpet, one of the offenders distracted their attention and the other one entered the house and stole money and goods. They caused damage to the victims assessed at 65,000 lei. The police arrested a 30-year-old member of the group when he was buying carpets from a Chisinau store. The suspect had an illegally held gun on him and put up resistance. In his car, there were found carpets, a paper case with photos of carpets, and a false permit. Legal action was taken on this case over swindle and theft. Those who had been victims of the swindlers are asked to call 902.
