Frogmen took the body of a 21-year-old man out of a pond in Negresti, Straseni after local children discovered it in the water. Diana Turcanu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the rescuers were called by villagers in the evening of May 15. Mayor of Negresti Zinaida Panainte said the young man lived together with his female cousin as his parents died 5-6 ago. He left home on May 13 and did not return, but his cousin did not inform the police and the authorities. The body was discovered by fishing children, who called grownups. An investigation is under way. Four cases of drowning have been reported in Moldova so far this year. One of the victims was a child. The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service warns against diving in unknown places and swimming in deep water.
