Boarding schools to be under the patronage of pre-university institutions

The boarding educational institutions in Moldova will be under the patronage of pre-university education institutions within a pilot project recommended by the Council of Europe. Minister of Education and Youth, Victor Tvircun, told a meeting of Chisinau pre-university education managers that the aim of the project is to integrate children with difficulties into the society. According to the minister, the educational system in Moldova excludes the separation of children into healthy and disabled ones. For their better social integration it is necessary that children with difficulties are supported by healthy children. In order to implement this project, a work group has been created, led by PM Vasile Tarlev, which will contribute to the residential institutions’ reform in Moldova. The group’s action plan provides for the creation of 6 pilot-institutions in Chisinau, which would patronize those 10 residential institutions. The minister encouraged managers of high school institutions to participate in the pilot project. Participation conditions include the nearness of both institutions, the principle of voluntary participation, and good knowledge of the group’s action plan.
