Boarding school head and cashier suspected of embezzlement

The head and cashier of a boarding school in Leova district are suspected of falsifying students’ signatures in order to appropriate about 10,000 lei. Olga Baciu, head of the Ministry of the Interior’s press office, has told Info-Prim Neo that the two women in 2007-2009 misappropriated money that was intended for the graduates of the boarding school and for the vacation of the other students. The allowances for a summer month for every child varied between 600 and 700 lei, which is about 1,800-2,100 lei for June-August. The boarding school head and the cashier are investigated for forgery in public documents. They face a fine of up to 10,000 lei or up to two years’ imprisonment. They may be also deprived of the right to hold a particular post or perform particular activities for a period of up to five years.
