BNM issues two commemorative coins

The National Bank of Moldova will issue two commemorative coins as a means of payment and for numismatic value. The coins "Carol" and "Spoon Bill" are minted in silver, each weighing 16.5 grams and having a face value of 50 lei, Info-Prim Neo learned from a BNM press release. The "Carol'' coin depicts a group of carolers and was issued to promote folk traditions related to the winter holidays, inherited throughout time. It will complete the "Holidays, culture and traditions of Moldova" series, started in 2007 and including 4 other coins. The second coin "Spoon Bill" was dedicated to the bird species which is now endangered in Moldova, thus the "Red List of Moldova" series will be completed. It started in 2001 and it includes 9 other coins. The commemorative coins, encased in Plexiglas and presentation boxes, will have authenticity certificates, in Romanian and English, by the governor of the National Bank of Moldova. The coins will be sold through licensed banks at a price than can't exceed the set price by more than 3%. 1000 "Carolers" and 500 "Spoon Bills" will be coined.
