Block of Communists and Socialists suggests anti-crisis plan

The parliamentary group of the Block of Communists and Socialist (BCS) proposed an anti-crisis plan that includes a set of measures aimed at improving the quality of life in the Republic of Moldova. “The current economic, energy, humanitarian and inflation crises increased social vulnerability and showed that the population support measures need to be rethought,” BCS MP Alla Darovannaya stated in a press briefing.

According to the MP, major attention was devoted to the social sector, namely to social protection, labor force and remuneration. The BCS proposes fighting poverty by implementing population support measures. “The objective of social protection consists in the ensuring of incomes for those who are unable to work, guaranteeing of a minimum income for the extremely poor population and provision of social welfare to poor persons,” she said.

Alla Darovannaya underlined the necessity of optimizing the pension indexation system. She said the application of the quarterly pension indexation principle will strengthen the basic function of indexation – to protect the pensioners from the effects of the lower purchasing power of the leu. Indexation should take place depending on the inflation forecast by the National Bank of Moldova, not according to the rate of inflation the previous year.

It is also proposed reviewing the conditions for setting the pension for work in special conditions, transferring the duty to set the allowance for temporary incapacity for work to the National Health Insurance Company, providing child benefit to all children younger than five, creating a national fund for supporting the citizens in situations of risk or exceptional situations.

BCS MP Vladimir Odnostalco said the parliamentary group lays emphasis on the development of demographic policies and suggests working out a program titled “Family in Moldova”, which will include a set of instruments and measures, like cultivation of patriotism and spiritual values and offering of financial support. Measures should be worked out to ensure accessible medical services and to support families with three and more children.
