The birth rate in the municipality of Chisinau has declined from ten alive newborns per 1,000 people in 2008 to 7.7 children in 2017, IPN reports.

The data were presented by the Chisinau Health Division on February 9. Cardiovascular diseases are responsible for the largest part of the deaths, including among persons of a working age, being followed by malignant tumors, traumas and poisonings.

The general death rate during the last ten years has decreased from 8.1 cases per 1,000 inhabitants in 2008 to 7.6 cases in 2017. The death rate among people of a working age declined from 4.3 cases per 1,000 people in 2008 to two cases in 2017.
