The prices of biometric passports went up. From May 20, the passport issued within 30 days costs 850 lei, up from 700 lei until now. The passport for children costs now 650 lei, up from 430 lei, IPN reports.
Oleg Rotaru, director of the Commercial Department of the Information Resources Center “Registru”, told a news conference that the necessity of increasing prices appeared last August, when new types of passports, dark red in color, were put into circulation and the technological production process was modernized. Thus, the rise in prices is a delayed one given the financial burden borne by the enterprise.
The price of a passport issued during 15 days is 1,060 lei, during 10 days – 1,280 lei, during five days – 1,490 lei, during 24 hours – 1,700 lei, during six hours – 2,130 lei, while during three hours – 2,550 lei.
There were introduced a number of additional concessions, such as the issuing of certificates containing data from the state register to persons with disabilities and over retirement age at half price.
