Bills on Gagauzia to be approved by Executive Committee or People’s Assembly

The draft normative documents referring to the statutes or obligations concerning ATU Gagauzia are to be endorsed by the Executive Committee or the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, as a bill that was discussed by the Parliament’s legal commission on appointments and immunities provides.

The bill was proposed by the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia. The authors noted that ATU Gagauzia is now not fully involved in the process of making laws that concern Gagauzia. Even if the current legislation contains particular general requirements concerning the consultation process, these are not sufficiently efficient and do not stimulate consultation between Parliament and the People’s Assembly.

The bill also stipulates that the authorities of ATU Gagauzia will have to transmit draft local laws to the responsible ministries and other central administrative authorities for approval.

Also today, the legal commission on appointments and immunities approved a report on the bill to amend the Parliament’s Regulations. This way, the standing parliamentary commissions will be responsible for inviting representatives of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia to discussions if the bills on ATU Gagauzia are proposed for public debates.

Both of the bills are to be examined by Parliament.
