In the spring session’s first plenary meeting held today, Parliament adopted in the second and final reading a number of bills and amendments. Among them is the amendment that expands the list of subjects required to submit declarations of assets and personal interests, reports IPN.

The list is extended to also include employees of self-managed public agencies and institutions, and people in managerial positions of subdivisions of public institutions. Presidents and vice-presidents of political parties, as well as board members, will also be required to submit declarations of wealth and personal interests. Other subjects included are people in supervisory positions at state and municipal companies, as well as state-owned companies.

Another legislative proposal that was adopted in the final reading is one establishing the National Culture Fund. This is a new funding mechanism for cultural and publishing programs and projects. Through the National Culture Fund, programs will be financed to support projects of non-commercial organizations in the field of culture, editorial and literary translation activities, cultural magazines, editorial and literary translation activities, local cultural development programs, artistic mobility and cultural programs.

Parliament also ratified an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a 600,000 euros grant. The funding is intended for the Solid Waste Project.

Another ratified agreement provides for 300 million Japanese yen, or about 1.9 million euros, in non-refundable assistance from the Government of Japan. The grant will be used to facilitate the access of Moldovan farmers to fertilizers, seed material, pesticides and such. Farmers will get access to affordable fertilizers, exempt from import value added tax and with the possibility of paying in installments and without collateral.
