An advertising billboard caught fire in downtown Chisinau on Thursday morning. The press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergency Service, Liliana Puscasu, has told Info-Prim Neo the incident occurred on Negruzzi Blvd. The fire was sparked by a short circuit. Because of heavy wind the flames engulfed the entire billboard in a couple of seconds. In the afternoon of the same day, another fire threatened the lives of several Chisinau residents, as the electrical panel of an apartment block on 36 Burebista Str caught fire. The thick smoke made the dwellers call for firefighters. The biggest danger was smoke inhaling, especially for the people living at the upper floors. Two twins aged 18 were rescued from the 8th floor. Due to the quick intervention, the firemen managed to evacuate all the residents. Since the beginning of the year 939 fires have been recorded in Moldova, killing 106 people, including 5 children.
