The MPs gave a final reading to the bill to eliminate the duty-free regime in Moldova. This way, the sale of goods in stores located in customs areas will be taxed according to the fiscal equity principle for all the entrepreneurs in Moldova, IPN reports.
“Duty-free means without taxes but we say that everyone should pay their part of taxes equitably, including airport stores. We can use the money collected additionally to help thousands of other entrepreneurs in these hard times,” said the chair of the commission on economy, budget and finance, Dumitru Alaiba, one of the sponsors of the bill.
The current duty-free stores will operate until their licenses expire. This way, the stores in state border leaving areas will work until September 3, 2023, while the store situated inside the Chisinau International Airport will be available until December 22, 2022.
