Bill to equalize studies in Moldova and Romania is barred by PSRM

The bill to equalize the diplomas of study of Moldova and Romania was blocked in the Parliament’s commission on foreign policy and European integration by the Socialist MPs, the author of the bill Igor Sharov, ex-minister of education, was quoted by IPN as saying in a TV program.

“It is a bill about which I care a lot – the equalizing of studies and the basic agreement in education with Romania. For me, the delay of this bill is at least unclear. The previous days, I talked to the head of the commission on foreign policy, Mister Vremea, who told me that the quorum was absent in the first meeting, while in the second meeting the Socialist MPs asked to put off the examination of this bill,” Igor Sharov noted in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.

According to the ex-minister, the arguments provided by the Socialists are strange.

“They said possibilities of leaving the Republic of Moldova will appear together with the signing of this agreement. This is an at least erroneous opinion. The benefits for our citizens in Romania are enormous and vice versa. Those who completed 10 or 11 grades will have their studies equalized with a Baccalaureate diploma. Those who studied at the university for five years will have the master’s degree diploma equalized, in the pre-Bologna period. The scientific degree diplomas are also equalized. There are also other benefits,” stated Igor Sharov.

He noted he received a number of requests from the diaspora and drafted a relevant bill. This way, the interaction with the diaspora is not limited only to the August days when the Diaspora days are organized, but is made permanent.

Igor Sharov also said that the Ministry of Education is working out other bills to equalize studies with such countries as Italy, Portugal and Belarus. “These are vital as we must offer possibilities, not to mention the equalizing of jobs in healthcare and engineering. These are for the benefit of our citizens who are now in Romania and I’m sure that common sense will triumph and the effort made by the MPs who support this bill will be successful,” he noted.
