PPPDA MPs Alexandr Slusari and Dinu Plîngău on November 5 presented a bill to amend the Constitution so that the pensions and salaries are not lower than the minimum subsistence level, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, Alexandr Slusari said the bill is not electoral in character and forms part of the country program of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”. Regardless of the results of elections, the party will continue to promote it so that it is implemented.
The two called on all the MPs to sign it and to show that they care about the social problems not only during election campaigns.
If the bill to amend Article 47 of the Constitution is not supported by the other MPs, the PPPDA has a reserve plan. The first stage of this plan will be presented next Monday.
Article 47 of the Constitution stipulates that the state is obliged to take measures for each person to enjoy decent living conditions that would ensure the health and wellbeing of the people and their families, including food, clothing, dwelling, medical care and the necessary social services. The citizens also have the right to insurance in case of unemployment, disease, invalidity, widowhood, old age or in other cases of loss of the means of subsistence as a result of circumstances that are independent from their will.
