The Parliament postponed the examination of the bill whereby the signatories of the Declaration of Independence are provided concessions until the autumn-winter session, Info-Prim Neo reports. Liberal lawmaker Mihai Ghimpu accused the Liberal-Democrat MPs, who drafted the bill, of pursuing certain goals. “We thank them for bringing the independence, but we should not make them kings. Article 4 of the bill says they have access to the meetings of the local and central administration. What should they do at the meetings of the Security and Information Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office or the Government?” asked Mihai Ghimpu, who is among the signatories of the Declaration of Independence. He also demanded excluding the provision whereby the Parliament’s Standing Bureau is made responsible for organizing the funerals of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence who pass away from the bill. Mihai Ghimpu said he cannot know who will govern the country when he dies and thus does not want to be buried by Communists. Liberal-Democrat MP Tudor Deliu and the head of the Democratic group Dumitru Diacov replied that Mihai Ghimpu wants in fact to remove everything from the bill so that only its name remains. Consensus could not be reached after a break asked for making a number of adjustments to the bill. Thus, Head of Parliament Marian Lupu announced that the bill will be examined in the autumn-winter session of the legislature. The bill proposed by the Liberal-Democrat lawmakers provides that the signatories of the Declaration of Independence should benefit from a pension of 25% of the main salary and diplomatic passport, have free access to the meetings of the public bodies, while the funerals of those who decreased should be organized by a commission created by the Standing Bureau.
