The bill to secure the media space proposed by the Democratic Party is a self-defense remedy against foreign propaganda, political analyst Anatol Taranu stated in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
According to the analyst, everything that is related to the attempt to denigrate the European values and the European Union and to present this as a paradise for gays and an area of debauchery means propaganda that develops a particular social, political conscience in Moldova and blocks what is called European orientation. “This way this propaganda practically opposes our fundamental goal, which is the European integration of the Republic of Moldova,” stated Anatol Taranu, adding that in such a situation the state should take self-defense measures.
Democratic MP Corneliu Mihalache said the notion of propaganda appears in Moldova’s legislation for the first time now. Foreign propaganda is much more dangerous than internal one. “Foreign propaganda is actually interference in the information space of the Republic of Moldova and in the internal affairs of the state. It has an effect on the conscience of the population,” noted the MP.
He also said that in the case of propaganda, there is no freedom of expression as public opinion is manipulated and there is even a diversion.
On December 6, the Democratic Party suggested introducing the bill to amend the Broadcasting Code and institute a mechanism for ensuring the information space security of the state in the agenda of the Parliament’s sitting of this week.
