From September 1, teachers will get bigger bonuses of homeroom and for checking student papers. Within the limits of their school budgets, school principals will also be able to grant bigger bonuses for classroom administration and for activities involving students with special needs. Bonuses may not exceed 10% of the annual budget for teaching staff salaries.
A teacher who has a class of 35 students will get a homeroom bonus of up to 880 lei, compared to about 560 lei previously, and each school will determine the amount according to the available resources, said the Ministry of Education and Research.
Bonuses for specific homeroom work will be granted for the actual time worked during the academic year (from September 1 to August 31), including during school holidays, which is a new provision.
The calculation of specific bonuses will be done annually in relation to the salary of the teacher in primary classes and that of the teacher in secondary education. Calculations will be made based on the number of students registered on October 1 of each school year.
