Big National Dictation to be held on Romanian Language Day

The Big National Dictation was scheduled for August 31, when the Romanian Language Day is celebrated. Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun told a news conference that all those who want can take part in the event that will be held in the square of the National Opera House “Maria Bieșu” starting at 10am.
The organizers expect at least 500 persons will become involved, IPN reports.

According to the minister, the event is open to all those interested: teachers, students, representatives of different professions. One can register on the Ministry of Education’s website mec.gov.md and will be contacted to confirm their participation depending on the available places. The finalists of the Big National Dictation will be awarded at the beginning of September.

The text of the dictation will be chosen from among the essays that will win the competition entitled “Why should the Republic of Moldova be part of the European Union?”. The text will be supplemented with a chapter about the Romanian language. Dan Perciun said the subject of the dictation is not at all accidental and fully shows Moldova’s European aspirations.

The winners of the essay contest will be awarded at the event to open the Big National Dictation. Essays can be submitted to dictare@mec.gov.md from August 15 until August 24. The results of the contest by age categories will be announced on August 29. The best five essays will be awarded book vouchers.

The Big National Dictation will be broadcast on the national radio and TV stations. The correct variants will be published.
