Two Chisinau men tried to kill themselves yesterday using methods which are generally associated with female suicide attempts, that is through poisoning. Dr. Eufalia Negreata of the Chisinau Emergency Service has told Info-Prim Neo that a man, 54, attempted suicide by drinking an unidentified mixture of liquids. Luckily, the man was found by his relatives who called an ambulance before it was too late. The man is now at the Holy Trinity Hospital for detox. The same hospital accommodates a 67-year-old male patient, who last night took pills with alcohol in order to kill himself. A nameless man in his early 50s was found on Trandafirilor Street in state of drunkenness and with head trauma, being transported to the Emergency Service. The collision between a VAZ and an Opel car on Iesilor Street resulted in head trauma for a 32-year-old pregnant woman, who required hospital treatment. A male bicyclist thought to be about 40 was transported in critical condition to the Emergency Hospital after being struck by a Ford vehicle on Uzinelor Street. The victim, apparently drunk, suffered multiple injuries and head trauma. Over the past day and night, the Chisinau Emergency Service responded to 700 calls, including 70 cases of trauma, 16 childbirths, 16 acute coronary syndromes, and 8 brain strokes.
