The owners of buildings in the capital city are urged to clean snow from roofs so as to prevent the formation of icicles that can hurt persons or damage vehicles parked near blocks when falling. The citizens are warned to be attentive and avoid walking near buildings, IPN reports.
“Traditionally, the Chisinau City Hall, the Public Amenities Division warn all those in charge, the managers of buildings to take the necessary measures to prevent the falling of icicles as these can cause damage to property and even traumas to people,” Gennady Dubița, deputy head of the Public Amenities Division, stated in the January 14 meeting of officials of municipal services and divisions.
Gennady Dubița said the Division made an order providing that the managers of blocks are responsible for the clearing of roofs of snow and icicles regardless of the form of ownership. Those who will not comply will be fined 2,000 to 6,000 lei. If need be, they can borrow tower cranes from the Green Areas Association to reach the roofs.
A falling icicle can cause serious head injuries that can lead to disability or even death.
