Better social assistance services for Transnistria’s needy
Celebrating its first anniversary, the Causeni-based “Pro-Familia” Maternal Centre inaugurated a similar facility in the same town. The new building will provide the disadvantaged families living the Transnistrian region with high-standard social assistance services, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During the first year of activity, the centre assisted 30 women and 36 children in overcoming risk and crisis situations. The beneficiaries have been offered shelter, health care assistance and psycho-social counseling.
The new facility of the “Pro-Familia” Centre will provide protection and psycho-social assistance for a period from 3 to 6 months, with the possibility of prolongation up to one year. This is one of the two social-reintegration institutions launched within the frameworks of the “Better Opportunities for Youth and Women” project, implemented by UNDP Moldova with the financial support of the US Government.
Similar maternal institutions were opened in Drochia and Cahul. Other 6 localities have social-reintegration centers for youth.
