Best journalists of 2015 awarded

The Chisinau Press Club – the Independent Journalism Center and the Committee for the Freedom of the Press – awarded the journalists of 2015 in the 21st Annual Gala of the Press Club that was staged on December 17, IPN reports.

Natalia Morari, moderator of the talk shows “Politica” and “Interpol” on TV7 channel, was awarded in the interview category. She said that 2015 is a sad year for the independent journalists of the Republic of Moldova, but these should make common cause and show that they can achieve their goals.

Council of Europe Secretary General Jagland Thorbjorn received the award for raising a political theme when he noted that the Republic of Moldova is a captive state.

Inna Kivirjik, of Newsmaker.md, took the award for addressing economic issues. The journalist said she will continue to write on economic and financial matters and hopes that the investigation about the ‘theft of the century” will be soon published and the people will be able to know where the money from the Moldovan banking system was transferred.

RISE Project Moldova was awarded for the best journalistic investigation (“PlahotniukLeaks”), journalist Vitalie Hadei of “Ziarul National”  - for dealing with the sports issues, while the TV project “Pur si Simplu” of Radio Free Europe – for addressing cultural themes.

Natalia Petrusevici of the Balti newspaper “SP” received the award for approaching social matters, Lilia Curchi of “Natura” journal – for raising ecological themes, while photo-reporter Andrei Mardari – for photo journalism.

Three special prizes were also awarded in the Gala. Livia Goncear-Panzari of Radio Moldova was named the Hope of 2015, Pro TV Chisinau was awarded for the best social campaign (“Give and Gain!), while Ecaterina Terzi, reporter of the national public broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” in Gagauzia – for promoting diversity in the mass media.

Press Club head Ludmila Andronic presented the special award for journalistic ethics to Radio Free Europe, saying this radio station during many years has been an example of journalistic ethics in Moldova. She noted that the prize for political journalism leaves the country because no candidate who would meet all the criteria was identified here.

The Annual Gala of the Press Club was held with the financial support of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
