The Berries and Honey Festival will take place in Chisinau on August 20 and 21. The event will take place from 11:00 to 18:00 in Ciocana sector at the intersection of Mircea cel Bătrân Boulevard and Petru Zadnipru Street.
In Moldova, there are over 7,000 officially registered beekeepers and about 265,000 bee families, and about 600 berry growers. The event aims to support local producers and promote local products that have multiple health benefits, the National Association of Beekeepers said in a press release.
Ion Maxim, executive director of the Association, said the beekeepers and the berry producers attending the Festival will offer products from this year’s harvest. The range of products on display is quite varied, despite this summer’s drought.
Aneta Ganenco, president of the Moldovan Berries Association, said that the farmers’ hard work ensured a good harvest this year.
The Festival’s opening ceremony will take place on Saturday at 11:00, followed by an artistic performance. On the margins of the fair, a vegetable carving masterclass will be offered.
This is the Festival’s second edition and around 5000 visitors are expected to attend.
