Benita Ferrero Waldner to “Children's City” residents: “Europe does not forget about you, children”

Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero Waldner visited the over 300 residents of the “Children's City Concordia” center in Parata village of Dubasari district on Friday morning. The European guest familiarized herself with the chidlren's living conditions and brought them presents, Info-Prim Neo reports. “It is a great honor for us that you found time to visit us. The children prepared to receive guests. Together with the educators, they do their homework, prepare food, celebrate birthdays,” Maia Filipenco, pedagogical coordinator of the “Children's City”, related while Benita Ferrero Waldner was visiting one of the buildings where the children live. When going out, the European Commissioner said a nation must do everything for its children. “Any help is welcome for these wonderful kids. I must say I was surprised to see these beautiful houses, neat children, the tidiness and how many things the children learn here. Europe does not forget about you, children,”Benita Ferrero Waldner said. Tatiana Gherb, project assistant at the “Children's City”, said the children are vised monthly by a guest or two and they are used to receiving guests and diversify the artistic program that they prepare for them. The European Commissioner was accompanied by the new Head of the European Commission's Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schübel and the Head of the European Commission's Division for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Gunnar Wiegand. The center “Children's City Concordia” was founded in 2004. Benita Ferrero Waldner is paying an official visit to Moldova between November 26 and 27.
