Beneficiaries of Donate a Book to Orphans campaign will be announced on June 1

Over 2,000 books have been collected so far during the campaign “Donate a Book to Orphans!” organised by the Centre for Children’s Rights. The beneficiaries of the donated books and their donors will be announced during the festivities organised to celebrate the International Children’s Day on June 1, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Irina Codrean, consultant of the Center, the campaign was launched at the beginning of this month. National and international public organisations, diplomatic missions accredited to Chisinau and individuals have been asked to make the life of the children from boarding schools more beautiful by sharing their books with them. The quoted source said that the winner of the drawing contest “Children Have Their Rights!” will be awarded as part of the same event. The activities organised by the Centre for Children’s Rights to celebrate the International Children’s Day will end with a flash-mob meeting entitled “Children Deserve a Better Life”. The aim of the event is to promote the rights of the children in Moldova and sensitise the public to the necessity of making the life of the children better. The activities will start at 15.00 on June 1 in the Children’s Entertainment Square from the Park of the Jesus’ Birth Cathedral. The International Children’s Day has been celebrated since 1924, when the United Nations League adopted the Declaration on the Rights of the Child. In 1989, the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, document that was ratified by Moldova in 1990.
