Bender to receive 15 refurbished trolleybuses from Minsk
Fifteen refurbished trolleybuses from Minsk will soon run on Bender's streets under a program on the optimization of the electric transport in the town.
For hauling each vehicle to the town the local authorities will pay some $ 2,000 allocated from the reserve fund of the Transnistrian region.
Andrei Reka, chief engineer at the Bender trolleybus company, said the 15 vehicles will stabilize the traffic of passengers and will improve trolleybus times.
“Some of the 15 vehicles will be kept aside, while others will be put on the routes with the worst times. Before being employed in traffic, they will undergo technical examination”, said Andrei Reka.
In 1995 Bender had only 6 trolleybuses. Today the town's passengers are serviced by 21 vehicles. The annual number of passengers is estimated at 13 million.
