Belarus donates mobile X-ray system to Moldova

The Republic of Belarus on December 28 donated a mobile X-ray system for lung screening to the Institute of Phthisiopneumology “Kiril Draganiuc” of Chisinau. The keys of the mobile unit were handed over to Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Silvia Radu by the Ambassador of Belarus to Moldova Sergey Ciciuc. The vehicle will be used as part of the nationwide campaign “A doctor for you” for medical examinations in rural areas, IPN has learned from the Ministry.

“I express my gratitude to the Republic of Belarus for this donation. I hope that with the assistance of these machines, we will reach all the country’s locates so that the population takes lung screening tests and we could intervene on time when a disease is detected,” stated Silvia Radu.

For his part, Ambassador Sergey Ciciuc said the partnership between Moldova and Belarus is long-lasting and the support offered by his country during many years for the health system of Moldova is a proof of this. “The health of a country’s population is the most important investment. We will continue to cooperate with the Republic of Moldova and to support the social projects,” stated the diplomat. This year the Government of Moldova bought a mobile lung screening vehicle from Belarus that is used within the campaign “A doctor for you”.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, since August, when the campaign was launched, over 22,000 persons have been examined and 3,000 persons of these turned out to suffer from respiratory system diseases.
