Over the last two years, the acacia trees bloom earlier, on May 15-20, so that the beekeepers already obtained acacia honey from the new harvest, said the president of the Beekeepers Association of Moldova “Apis Melifera” Andrei Zagareanu.
Contacted by IPN, Andrei Zagareanu said the acacia honey contains a higher quantity of fructose, is finer ands can be eaten by kids. It keeps the liquid form for a long period of time owing to the high content of fructose and is recommended to persons who suffer from allergies and stomach disorders. This honey has uniform consistency and is yellow-golden in color.
At the markets in Chisinau acacia honey is sold for 75 lei a kilogram. In Moldova there are about 10,000 beekeepers.
