Beach Soccer Championship to premiere in Moldova

For the first time in its history, Moldova will host a National Beach Soccer Championship, which will open on July 6 in Chisinau's suburban town of Vadul lui Voda, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Moldovan Soccer Federation, 6 teams have announced their presence so far, and these are Vadul lui Voda, Ialoveni, Colonita, Fulger, Dubasari and USM. Each club fighting in the Championship will play the others on a weekly basis. The Federation has said it intends to build a national beach soccer team to participate in international competitions. The Championship is organized by the Moldovan Soccer Federation in partnership with the Beach Soccer Association. The International Olympic Committee is considering including beach soccer in the 2012 Olympics as a demonstration sport. Each year since 2005 FIFA has organized the Beach Soccer World Cup.
