The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) will challenge the draft decision by which a state of emergency was decreed in the Constitutional Court. They will also dispute the bills that they consider were introduced illegally in the agenda of the sittings of the extraordinary session. The BCS MPs accused their mates from the parliamentary majority of pursuing personal goals and of violating the Parliament’s Regulations. The parliamentary group left the sitting in protest, IPN reports.

“It’s regrettable that the agenda of the extraordinary sitting is modified so swiftly and this is probably the behavior, organizational line and attitude to the law and the Parliament’s Regulations. Therefore, we announce that our parliamentary group will go to the Constitutional Court in the immediate period to challenge the modification of the agenda of the extraordinary sitting, except for the legally introduced issues, and the declaring of the state of emergency,” said Vlad Batrîncea.

He noted that on the pretext of the state of emergency, as experts and jurists said, a number of illegalities are committed, including the attempt to censure the press and to ban protests. “What is especially interesting is that a period of 60 days is introduced and during this period the Government, more exactly the Commission for Exceptional Situations, will replace Parliament and other constitutional institutions,” stated the MP.

Parliament on January 20 decreed a 60-day state of emergency nationwide in a move to manage the energy security risks.
