The group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) submitted a new no-confidence motion to Parliament. This time, the BCS MPs are dissatisfied with the work of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development led by Vladimir Bolea. The Socialists and Communists criticize the situation at Moldova’s Railways and the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports.
Socialist MP Petru Burduja said in Parliament that scandals related to corruption, non-transparent and apparently fraudulent tender contests have appeared in the public space. Non-transparent actions, important for the state's strategic infrastructure, are also reported. The parliamentarian invoked the critical and difficult financial situation of the state-owned enterprise Moldova’s Railways, where almost 5,000 employees did not receive their salaries and the arrears mount to over 190 million lei.
Petru Burduja emphasized the faulty management and the lack of concrete actions to overcome the challenges at the Airport – rigged tender contest, the absorption of the Mărculești Aoirport and other actions that, in his opinion, generate questions. According to the MP, projects of national importance, such as water supply and sewerage, are being delayed.
The Bloc of Communists and Socialists asked the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development to submit information on the actions taken in relation to Moldova’s Railways and the Chisinau International Airport, as well as the policies regarding the derogation from the project implementation deadlines. "All these projects are carried out with borrowed money, and the citizens will pay these amounts," said MP Burduja.
This is the fifth no-confidence motion submitted in the recent past by MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists. The previous motions, which targeted the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Research, failed. The motion against the policies of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization was not even examined as Dumitru Alaiba quit as minister. At last week's sitting, a motion was submitted against the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry led by Ludmila Catlabuga.
The no-confidence motion can be initiated by at least 15 MPs. According to the regulations, it is submitted to the chair of the sitting, in the plenary session of Parliament. After receiving the motion, the chair of the sitting brings it to the attention of Parliament. The debate on the motion takes place on the date set by the Standing Bureau, within 14 working days of its submission.
