Lawmakers of the group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) ask to constitute a special commission to identify solutions to set acceptable utility charges IPN reports.
MP Vladimir Odnostalco told a press briefing that the BCS group received over 7,000 requests from citizens referring to exaggerated heat bills and to the lack of appropriate compensation.
The MP reminded that last year, on the initiative of BCS, a moratorium was imposed on the disconnection of users from energy resources during the cold period of the year. This season, however, the PAS MPs refused to support the moratorium.
MP Diana Caraman called the charge issue “a crime against citizens of the poorest country in Europe”, where each third inhabitant lives below the poverty line, where people are forced to pay more than half of their income for utilities.
The MPs noted the budget for 2023 included 5 billion lei for the compensation fund. In the 2024 budget, this amount is at 746 million lei, almost seven times less than last year. It is clear that this money is not enough to pay compensation to all consumers.
