BCS MPs prepare no-confidence motion against justice minister

The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) drafted a no-confidence motion against the policies pursued in the justice sector. According to them, Sergiu Litvinenco should quit as minister of justice following the disclosure of Telegram conversations attributed to him, IPN reports.

“We consider Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco should resign. He is a coward as he first said that those conversations with decision makers of the Superior Council of Prosecutors, with others were fabricated. After those with whom he conversed came with reactions, saying the discussions were authentic, the minister of justice keeps silent and does not know what to do. We will help him. This week we will propose a no-confidence motion against the policies pursued in the justice sector,” Socialist MP Vasile Bolea told a news conference.

Vasile Bolea also referred to the contest to name the chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office that was won by Viorica Dragalin, describing this as rigged. According to him, there are opinions and demands from civil society experts that Viorica Dragalin should step down and that a “real contest” should be held. “We consider legal action should be taken. We announce that we launch the preliminary proceedings for suing the Superior Council of Prosecutors that, by its order, named Missis Dragalin to this post. We consider that order is null and void as the actions that preceded that shameful contest and the contest itself are invalid,” said the BCS MP.

He also said that the BCS group will put forward a bill to exclude the minister of justice from the composition of the Superior Council of Prosecutors or the political factor will be able to influence the decisions taken by this body.
