The MP of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists Alla Dolință decided to give up the seat of MP and to leave the BCS parliamentary group. In her resignation letter, Dolință noted that she also withdraws from the Party of Socialists (PSRM) as she does not agree with the method, concept and rhetoric of the party and its administration over the war in Ukraine. The draft decision was published on the Parliament’s website. The information was confirmed for IPN by the deputy head of the Parliament’s Public Relations Division Svetlana Rudenco.
“For over 4-5 months, a war has been taking place in the neighboring country Ukraine, which is in essence my home as my parents were born there. It is hard for me to see the pain, tears, sorrows and destruction brought by this war and it is very hard for me to accept these events. Therefore, I decided to vacate the seat of MP and to withdraw from the Party of Socialists as I do not agree with and do not support the method, concept and rhetoric of the party’s leaders and of the party in general,” reads Alla Dolință’s resignation letter.
Vlad Batrîncea, secretary of the PSRM’s Political Executive Committee, said that pressure was exerted on the MP and they suspect that this statement wasn’t written by her as it is not typical of her style and rhetoric. “PSRM always pleaded for peace and for dialogue on the military conflict in Ukraine,” he told a news conference.
MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity Dumitru Alaiba said that Alla Dolință’s decision is correct and deserves respect. “I need to say it: respect for courage. We will surely see if the MP will later “identify herself” with other opponent parties etc. Now she took a correct and necessary decision, denouncing the denial of the reality and the criminal and complicit silence of PSRM and PCRM over the war in Ukraine. Other mates should follow her example and should not hide behind their finger. This is called “naming things”. It gives you a feeling of freedom, especially when you do it probably for the first time,” he posted on social media.
According to the Parliament’s press service, the resignation was tendered and is to be examined in the meeting of the legal commission for appointments and immunity.
Alla Dolință entered Moldova’s Parliament in December 2014. She formed part of the legal commission for appointments and immunity.
