The parliamentary group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) left Thursday’s sitting of Parliament, expressing this way their dissatisfaction with the fact that the parliamentary majority didn’t support their proposals to hold hearings and to exclude the draft decision on the extension of the state of emergency from the agenda. The BCS group announced that they will make a no-confidence motion, IPN reports.

“We want to take part in authentic hearings. We want to have access to information and to ensure access to information for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We are not interested in taking part in another sitting in which the state of emergency will be prolonged. Why do we need a Parliament in this case? You can adopt and amend laws through the agency of the given Commission,” said Deputy Speaker Vlad Batrîncea, announcing their decision to leave the sitting in protest.

The head of the parliamentary commission on foreign policy and European integration Doina Gherman said that during two years as part of the current legislative body, Vlad Batrîncea hasn’t taken part in any of the 90 meetings held by the commission. “Every time he argued that he has to fulfill a task entrusted to him by his parliamentary group,” noted the PAS MP.

Speaker Igor Grosu commented on the Communist and Socialist MPs’ boycott. “They looked for a pretext to leave the sitting so as not to take part in what will follow after the legal commission for appointments and immunities questions their two mates (Irina Lozovan and Alexandr Nesterovschi, e.n.). This is the real reason,” he stated.

Only the MPs of the parliamentary majority are present at the sitting. The independent MPs who earlier formed part of the group of the outlawed Shor Party didn’t show up.
