BCS: Current parliamentary session is a new stage of intimidation of opposition

The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) insist that the country needs snap parliamentary elections. According to them, the parliamentary session that is coming to an end was a new stage of discrimination, of intimidation of the opposition and of conscious destruction of the country. The BCS group left the sitting in protest after the parliamentary majority refused to accept a number of their proposals, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, the chairman of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin said that nothing remained of the country’s independence and sovereignty. “All the promises made by the government are empty ones. The people live in poverty. There is no economy and Moldova survives only on Western loans and alms,” he stated, noting that the proposals put forward by the BCS were designed to improve the situation of people, but they were rejected by the ruling party PAS.

The head of the BCS group Vlad Batrîncea, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, said the BCS initiatives show the citizens’ will. They asked to question the Cabinet over the actions taken to help the people cope with the consequences of the natural disasters and to create a commission of inquiry into the purchase of crude oil at astronomic prices, which was buried at night. The opposition is against the extension of the state of emergency as such a state is convenient only for those who want to make purchases in secret and to manage public funds non-transparently, outside legal and parliamentary procedures.

The July 31 sitting of Parliament is the last one of the spring-summer session of 2023. It involves only the PAS group as the BCS group left, while the independent MPs of the outlawed Shor Party boycott the sittings.
