The parliamentary group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) said that the state next year will continue to borrow at domestic and foreign levels and will repay loans in record amounts. According to the Communisis and Socialists, the state will collect higher taxes and duties from taxpayers, but will reduce financing for social and economic development projects, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Vladimir Golovatiuc, adviser in the Office of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, said that the revenues for 2024 are by only 800 million lei or 1.3% higher than this year. “Even if the tax collections will rise by 5 billion lei, the revenues will grow by only 800 million lei as the foreign grants will decrease by 4.4 billion lei, which is the foreign partners will offer less support,” stated Golovatiuc.
As to the social part of the budget, the MP said that the financing for important areas of society will be reduced. The capital investments in the health system will decrease by 456 million lei, while those in the health sector – by 93.5 million lei. “The budget for next year will be a budget of poverty, of the empty fridge, which will reflect lower consumption for bread, meat, fish, dairy products, etc.” stated Vladimir Odnostalco.
The 2024 draft national public budget law was approved by the Cabinet and is to be adopted by Parliament. This provides for 107.17 billion lei revenues and an expenditure of 122.962 billion lei. The deficit is of 15.790 billion lei or 4.6% of the Gross Domestic Product.
