BCC withdraws licence of public radio station
The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) has withdrawn the broadcasting licence of the Leova-based public radio station “Unda Adevarului” on June 19.
The license was withdrawn at the request of the administration of the station, which has not worked since the license was issued. At the same time, the BCC members found that the station exceeded by two years the deadline for the start of the broadcasting.
This radio frequency will come under the hammer.
Under the Audiovisual Code, the public broadcasters had to be reorganised within 3 months after the Code came into force, that is by November 18, 2006. BCC sent a note in this respect to the Chisinau Municipal Council which decided to privatise the stations “Antena C” and “Euro TV Chisinau” within 2 months. This decision, as well as the way it was approved was disputed by the staffers of the two stations, politicians, civil society, but also by international organisations and missions.
