The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) was nominated for the presidency of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF) in 2016. The proposal was unanimously accepted by the participants in the fifth annual meeting of the forum held in Baku on September 10-11. It was organized under the auspices of the National Television and Radio Council of Azerbaijan, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the BCC, the Moldovan delegation presented a report on the Council’s work, underlining the importance of media education for protecting children and teens from the unfiltered images and information furnished by the TV channels. The meeting discussed such issues as manipulation, propaganda and misinformation through the mass media, different case studies containing examples of professional journalism and situations of misinformation and violation of the Journalist’s Code of Ethics.
The representatives of the regulatory authorities of the member states of the forum approved of the work done by the Broadcasting Coordination Council of Moldova and presented it as an example of good practices for financially supporting the broadcasters in a move to improve the quality of the content of the broadcast media in the country.
