The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) condemns any attempt to attack the independence of media outlets, regardless of initiators, form or methods, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the broadcasting authority.
The communiqué says the dispute between the channels Publika TV and Jurnal TV over the infringement of copyright and related rights as well as its covering came into the focus of the BCC. The Council regrets that two important broadcasters working on the national media market didn’t manage to solve the problems amicably and went to court. The members of the BCC voiced hope that the trial will not affect the right to freedom of expression and the independence of the media organizations involved.
The Council also expressed confidence that the journalists will cover this case of public interest professionally, obeying the deontological standards, the Broadcasters’ Code of Conduct and the norms stipulated in the Broadcasting Code.
