BCC challenges Acces-Info report on transparency of public institutions

The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) is denying the information published by the Acess-Info Center in a report measuring the transparency of public institutions that the BCC failed to respond to 12 out of 14 official letters received, and is seeking a retraction, Info-Prim Neo reports. The report calls the BCC “the most irresponsible institution (…) which refused to respond to 12 out of 14 queries”. However, the BCC is challenging the finding, saying it is based on false information. “Although the report claims that 14 letters had been sent to the Council, we received only 2, and the senders received their answers within the time limits provided by the legislation”, the BCC said in a statement. “This can be demonstrated by verifying the correspondence registers. Twelve other letters that the report claims were sent never reached the BCC. No one called or wrote or by any other means checked whether such letters reached their destination. Therefore there is no evidence that such letters were sent in the first place, and the BCC has been accused without reason and based on false information”. The Council is asking the NGO Acces-Info Center to verify the information in the report and the media outlets which spread the information to retract it.
