BCC and Portuguese media regulator to cooperate

The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) and the Regulatory Authority for the Media of Portugal (ERC) signed an agreement of cooperation to exchange experience in broadcasting regulation. The accord was signed by the BCC president Dinu Ciocan and the ERC president Carlos Magno in Chisinau, IPN reports.

“This agreement is a very important one for the Republic of Moldova and for us, as a regulatory authority, because the experience of the country you represent in the field of broadcasting is very rich and wide,” said Dinu Ciocan, addressing his Portuguese colleague.

The accord envisions the exchange of the best practices in monitoring program services, especially as regards the covering of election campaigns and ensuring of child safety in program services. “We are in the process of transition from analog terrestrial television to digital terrestrial one. That’s why the experience of the authority you represent is very valuable,” added Dinu Ciocan.

For his part, Carlos Magno said that he will complete his duties as the ERC president in three months, but the signed document is a guarantee that the cooperation will continue.

The agreement envisions exchange of delegations and joint participation in different events in the broadcasting sector. The BCC members will also be able to seek help from the representatives of the ERC when they need information and consultations on broadcasting regulation.
