A number of explosive devices were discovered in Orac village of Leova district during gas network installation works. The explosive ordinance disposal technicians of the motorized infantry brigade "Dacia" intervened immediately, identifying and destroying 51 pieces of ammunition dating from the time of World War II, IPN reports.

The technicians were alerted by the local authorities after workers noticed the first projectiles in the ground. After examining the area, the military discovered 37 artillery shells of 45 mm caliber, 12 launcher bombs of 82 mm caliber and two anti-tank missiles of 88 mm caliber.

According to the authorities, the ammunition posed a major risk to the population. They were transported and neutralized safely at the Training Center of the military unit in Cahul.
