The Moldovan Basketball Federation awarded the best players of 2013. Vitalie Oprea, of Donbaschet USM Chisinau, was named the best male player, while Margarita Skitsko, of Femina USM Chisinau, became the best female player.
This season, Oprea won the national championship and played in the final of the Basketball Federation’s Cup, while Skitsko won the championship and the cup together with her team. Margarita Skitsko was also the best scorer in the previous championship.
The coach of Donbasket USM Ruslan Varzari was selected as the best men’s basketball coach, while the coach of ASEM Vasile Scutelnic was designated as the best women’s coach. Vladimir Salopa was named the most talented young player, while Anastasia Pogolshchuk – the best young female player.
“It was a good year. The men’s Under 18 team became European vice champion among small countries, while the veterans team won silver at the World Championship,” president of the Moldovan Basketball Federation Octavian Bucol said in the Gala of Laureates.
The final of Moldova’s Basketball Cup was played on December 29. The trophy was won by Gama Cahul, which beat Donbaschet USM Chisinau by 86-63.
