Update /15:37/ The court session at which the bașcana Evghenia Gutul was to appear has been postponed, IPN reports.

The Bashkan of Gagauzia Evgenia Guțul will appear before judges on Thursday. The hearing will take place at the Buiucani Court of Chisinau City, starting at 03:00 p.m. Prosecutors ask for 30 days of pre-trial detention for her, IPN reports.

Evgenia Guțul was arrested at the Chisinau International Airport on Tuesday evening and is now in the custody of the National Anticorruption Center. She is investigated for fraudulent management of electoral funds, illegal financing and false statements.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, Evgenia Guțul appears in the information systems on the no-fly list. Therefore, the border guards informed the competent authorities about her intention to leave the country. After the arrest, supporters of the Bashkan were gathered together in front of the NAC, despite the fact that it was late and raining. The next day, a demonstration was also staged in front of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia. Members of the “Victory” bloc in Comrat chanted with placards reading: "Freedom for Eugenia Guțul", "No to repression in Gagauzia".
