The basements of a number of private homes and of two lyceums were flooded as a result of the torrential rain of the last few days. Rescuers intervened to remedy the situation. Five settlements of four districts are still partially disconnected from the supply of electricity, IPN reports.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the rescuers pumped the water out of basements of administrative blocks and private homes in Chisinau municipality and in the districts Hancesti, Straseni and Causeni.

A blocked drainage channel in Hancesti was cleared as it could flood an administrative block. The Chisinau Lyceum “Nicolae Iorga” and the Lyceum “Alexei Mateevici” from Cainari, Causeni also needed the assistance of rescuers.

Works are being executed to restore the power supply in two villages of Sangerei district, one village of Cahul district and in one village of Ialoveni district.
