Basarabeasca Firemen and Rescuers Station opened

On the occasion of the Rescuer Day, which is observed on March 1, the newly renovated building of the Firemen and Rescuers Station will reopen in the town of Barabeasca thanks to a project funded by the USA, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the US Embassy in Chisinau, the United States spent almost $270,000 on this project: $232,000 for the renovation itself, plus a separate donation of $35,000 to cover furniture and firefighting equipment expenses. The project was funded by the U.S. European Command Humanitarian Assistance Programme and administered by the US Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation. The opening ceremony includes simulation shows engaging subdivisions of fire-fighters and rescuers in liquidating consequences of emergency situations. U.S. Ambassador Michael Kirby and Moldovan key officials are expected to attend the ceremony. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 11:00. The station is located on Muncii Street, 61, in Basarabeasca town.
